The Regret - Anna Engelschall

Have you ever stayed awake at night, replaying a moment you wish you could change? That’s the silent weight of regret, something we’ve all felt, yet rarely talk about. I will talk about a short film, “The Regret” from Anna Engelschall on YouTube. Anna, someone who wants to travel more, but her circumstances do not allow it.  I think this short film can help you, who are anxious about your current choices, and after you watch this film, I hope you will have an epiphany.

Anna, a worker at a technology company who dreams of traveling and starting a YouTube channel, she hates her job, but her parents want her to work there, which is a good and safe job. One day, Anna meets an old woman who shows her a necklace she bought in Moscow. In the past, the woman's husband said that going to Moscow was too risky, too far from home, and said that one day they would go there, until her husband died before they could go. In the end, the old woman went there alone a week after he passed away. Anna realized that risk is always there, but so is the risk of finding a part of yourself you never knew existed. So Anna chose to realize her dreams, booking a flight and resign from her work.

With warm colors that are easy on the eyes, this film addresses issues that many people face and conveys its core message clearly. Anna's character, with her enthusiastic expressions when thinking about her dreams and goals coming true, made me feel excited while watching this film. The soundtrack changes when she is excited or sad, supporting the atmosphere of this film. The film uses easy to understand language and motivational words that will stay with us long after watching it.

The short film The Regret is suitable for teenagers who are often confused and afraid of their choices. What if I fail? What if other people don't like it? What if my parents are disappointed? Hey... just do what you think is right, even if you do it and experience failure, at least you have tried and attempted what you want.

Have you ever been in Anna's position? When no one supports you, not even those closest to you? For me, this story really motivated me to do what I want to do. I am someone who has experienced that, worrying about my future, afraid to make decisions, and with no one supporting my dreams. But I just want to make my dreams come true, this is my life, I will choose the best for me, even if the world thinks it is a foolish decision

Just remember guys, you are not a side character in someone else's story you are the main character in yours. The only person you need to please is the one who looks back at you in the mirror. So, after you watch “The Regret”, do you want to take a risk of your choice? Or do you have a situation similar to Anna?
